Some Stats About Flash Player and Browsers

August 1st, 2008 posted by Marcio Rosa

Some interesting stats where published by Adobe:

  • 99% of internet users do have Flash Player on their machine (98,8% from Google study)
  • 80% of internet users do have Flash Player version 9.0.115 on their machines
  • 99% of PC internet users do have Flash Player on their machine

This is great news. Almost any computer connected to the internet does have Flash Player installed and in a couple of months the 9.0.115 version will reach about 95%. Margins of error are around 5%.

From the data presented in Adobe’s study, Europe seems to be the last one and it seems that Europe is a more conservator ground than any other market.

From this study the usage of browsers is like this:

  • 78.3% Internet Explorer (still the most used) = 1103 million
  • 16.1% Firefox = 227 million
  • 3.4% Safari = 48 million
  • 0.8% Opera = 11 million

Another thing can be noticed: Internet Explorer is the most insecure browser and less upgraded.
